Dreams about eyes can be both puzzling and revealing at the same time. Learning to identify and interpret the meanings of different eyes in a dream is easy, once you know what to look for.
At some point, we’ve all had dreams we never understood, or thought we did, but didn’t want to face reality. There is an infinite number of subjects that one can dream about. Scientists are still puzzled as to why we dream, what is their purpose, why do we see exactly what we see, and how do we see this projection of intra-cranial movies.
Dreaming about eyes is a more common occurrence than you might think. It is one of the most popularly seen objects in dreams. One can dream about any type of eye. Human, animal, mythological beasts like dragons, unnameable aliens, eyes carved into architecture, God’s eyes, or even the Eye of Sauron (God forbid!) from the Tolkien Universe. There isn’t as much variety in interpretation in any other dream topic as there is in interpreting eyes.
A person’s interpretation is based on what he chooses to believe in. Since the eyes are the window to one’s soul and the window of the soul to the outside world, they can express a multitude of things. As a result, the same dream can have multiple interpretations. So what exactly is the meaning of dreaming about eyes?
Your Own Eyes
People can dream about their own eyes. One’s face with the eyes covered or shut means one cannot or is not willing to see or acknowledge something.
Another’s Eyes
Dreaming about someone else’s eyes signifies fear of censure or judgment, concern for them, remembrance if it is a lost one whose eyes you see, or trying to figure out a person’s personality. By looking at the detail and emotion behind the look, one may classify what the intent and more accurate interpretation is.
Closed Eyes
When you dream about going somewhere in your dreams with eyes completely closed, it generally signifies you are willing to let someone lead you blindly, or do not want to decide what course to take. A hesitation to see what lies ahead, and being stuck in the past are other suitable interpretations depending on what is needed.
Animal Eyes
Bestial eyes, like the eyes of a wolf, cheetah, tiger, and dog, usually signify a predatory outlook. One may feel empowered, be instilled with fear and loathing, or fear for one’s life. In daily life, one may feel like they are being targeted, or “hunted” and used. Depending on the personal events happening in one’s life, one may either feel cornered or alternatively, feel like a predator themselves. This may indicate a thirst to prove oneself, or a confidence never felt before.
Third Eye
If one dreams of a third eye on oneself, the meaning is obvious. It shows the person having a feeling of superiority and enlightenment, or a strong or reinforced belief in a religious or spiritual faith. Looking up at a third eye depicts aspirations to be mature and change oneself into what one sees in front of them. Consequently, it means one is ready to analyze oneself, and learns to take up responsibilities.
Blue Eyes
Feeling “blue” is not a phrase coined for nothing. It means one is dejected or depressed about something. Blue eyes occurring in dreams at a time of distress in your personal life would mean you should seek out this source of worry and address it. Blue eyes also symbolize innocence, so the dream might try to reiterate to you that there is nothing wrong with your behavior if you are doubting yourself. They may signify a motherly presence that you feel from someone protecting you.
Black eye
A person seen with a black eye directly indicates that he is injured. The same applies to dreams. A black eye may signify regret on your part, for hurting someone, or being hurt and resentful yourself.
Missing Eyes
A grisly dream where you find that you go blind or have received grievous injury to the eyes, is one indicating a fear of impending trouble or bad times. A situation where you feel confused and distracted can arise. You do not trust yourself to see and interpret things or people correctly in front of you, or even feel like someone is deliberately trying to stop you from finding out a truth.
Beautiful Eyes
Seeing a pair of obsessively beautiful, attractive eyes where you remember feeling awed or smitten is a tell-tale indicator that you believe that you might meet someone new romantically or otherwise. Or it might indicate that you want to move on into a new phase with someone in your life.
Bleeding/Red Eyes
If one sees their own eyes bleeding or red with crying, it depicts an internal or external conflict, or a painful situation. They may also symbolize unacknowledged sacrifice. If this is the case, one must look towards themselves to find out the solution of the problem and face it.
Many Pairs of Eyes
Many pairs watching you often indicates being on tenterhooks or not being able to express oneself. There may also be fear or shame involved in the equation, which is not related to a public condemnation, but a private one where you are beating yourself up about something.
Eye Contact
Peaceful eye contact shows that you are glad for someone you know. Looking into another’s soul is literally true. It shows you have found satisfaction in relationships, or you are finally seeing a person’s true character. Aggressive eye contact with another person signifies anger, distrust, or dissatisfaction towards that person. If you receive aggressive eye contact, it signifies a bad impression or opinion that someone holds of you. It may also signify you letting someone down.
Crossed Eyes, Eye patches, Blindfolds, or Something Breaking Vision
These are usually one’s own eyes, which suggest that you are not seeing something for what it is, or are confused about a decision, whether important or not. Closed eyes might also signify that you are not ready or unwilling to see and deal with reality. But eyes closed willingly symbolize faith and trust, to the extent that it is blind trust. If something is constantly breaking your line of vision in a dream it might feel like something is impeding you from seeing the truth.
Eyes Appearing in Objects
One may have dreams about struggling to pass a foreign area, where eyes suddenly start glowing around them. It appears like the very trees and the rocks in the dream are passing judgment. Sometimes the background of traveling to an unknown place may literally signify what it means. One is afraid to start over and is afraid to be themselves for fear of being rejected by others before they even get to know the person in this new job, city, or venture they are about to step into.
Carefully interpret the expression in your dream before you jump to any conclusions. Remember, it’s all in the eyes!
