The Most Important Benzodiazepines List You Will Ever Need

Home / Benzodiazepines / The Most Important Benzodiazepines List You Will Ever Need

Doctors often prescribe benzodiazepines to people struggling with anxiety or chronic stress. Of the more than 2,000 benzos produced, very few are in use. This benzodiazepines list includes most of these.

This list is short, sweet and includes the most commonly prescribed benzodiazepines. The list also includes some that are illicit and popular among recreational drug users.

The Benzodiazepines List

These are the most common and well-known benzodiazepines.

Diazepam (Valium)

Let's Work Together!

Diazepam is generally considered the gold standard benzo, and it’s used to measure the strength of other benzos. Valium is very sedating and has a long half-life, which means the drug builds up in your system over time.

Alprazolam (Xanax)

Xanax is another very well-known benzodiazepine. Xanax is very fast-acting but doesn’t last for as long as alprazolam. It is a fairly common among drug abusers.

Clonazepam (Klonopin)

Clonazepam is another very long-lasting benzo. It is not as powerful of a sedative as Xanax, making it a functional benzo for fighting daytime anxiety. The FDA approves clonazepam for fighting seizures.

Etizolam (Etilaam)

Etizolam is a relatively new drug that first became popular as a research chemical. Chemists produce research chemicals in clandestine labs and distribute them over the internet.

Etizolam is not technically a benzodiazepine. Rather, it is a thienodiazepine, a chemically similar benzo analog.

Etizolam is such an effective drug that it was branded under the name Etilaam. Etizolam is very fast-acting and highly effective at fighting anxiety. It also produces changes in mood which can further increase the risk of addiction.

Lorazepam (Ativan)

Lorazepam is a very fast-acting benzo that is fantastic for managing panic attacks. It is fairly sedating and FDA-approved to produce sedation. Doctors also prescribe lorazepam to fight seizures.

Temazepam (Restoril)

Temazepam is a very fast-acting benzodiazepine that the FDA designates as a useful sleep aid due to its fast-acting and highly sedating nature.

Clonazolam

Let's Work Together!

Clonazolam is a triazolobenzodiazepine. These are structurally similar to benzos with the addition of a triazole ring to the molecule. There is little data on clonazolam. Most users are recreational drug users who purchase the drug online.

Clonazolam is extremely potent and also causes users to develop a very high tolerance to benzos. Its strength also increases the risk of overdose, amnesia, and other dangerous side effects.

Oxazepam (Serax)

Oxazepam is a short-acting benzo. The FDA approves of Serax being used to fight anxiety and alcohol withdrawal. It is still effective at managing anxiety but other benzos are more effective for this purpose.

Conclusion

Benzodiazepines are a powerful class of drugs. Doctors prescribe them for fighting anxiety, preventing seizures, and improving sleep quality. It’s important to remember that they are highly addictive and can produce serious dependence.

This benzodiazepines list explores some of the most common legal and illegal benzos available today.
