All of us, at some point in life, have had very weird dreams that made us wonder what could they really mean. For instance, you dream that you are looking or searching for someone. This dream can be interpreted in many ways, and thus, an individual who has such dreams should himself observe and analyze which interpretation fits his/her current life situation.
Dreams have always been an enigma to humankind. Why do we dream? Is there any significance to what we see in our dreams? Are they in any way linked to our real life? These are some questions that psychoanalysts, dream analysts, and therapists have pondered over many times. According to Sigmund Freud, our dreams are in fact the repressed urges and impulses, which we are unable to express in our real life as we are expected to conform to societal norms and live by the ‘rules’. However, somewhere down the line, these urges remain in our subconscious mind and are released in disguised forms, i.e., through dreams. Thus, an individual can actually know his true-self and listen to his inner voice if he is able to interpret his dreams appropriately.
According to one theory, to search for someone means that there is something missing in your real life, and you are trying to find that thing. The “thing” that is missing in your life could be love, peace, wealth, happiness, spiritual enlightenment, a way out of any problem that you are in, etc. In short, your search can be related to something physical, cerebral, emotional, or even spiritual.
Analyze the relationships and situations that you are currently facing. By doing this, perhaps, you will be able to find a connection between this dream and your life. If eventually you are able to find a connection and understand what you really want in life, then start making efforts to achieve the same.
Another dream interpretation theory says that if you dream that you are looking for someone whom you know, it could mean that you are afraid that your relationship with that particular person is going to fizzle out. The dream could mean that you are again trying to, or want to, rebuild the intimacy and connection that you once shared with that person.
One interpretation could mean that you wish to imbibe or cultivate traits and qualities of the person in your dreams, in yourself. If that person is strong, individualistic, and independent, you want the same attributes in yourself. If the person is a good friend, you are probably longing for such a friendship and closeness in your life. If this person is your lover, may be you are looking for love and intimacy.
The key to interpreting your dreams lies in how well-connected you feel to yourself, your feelings, your thoughts, and inner voice. In the end, if this dream occurs repeatedly and you are unable to analyze the reason behind it yourself, consult a dream analyst or therapist. These professionals can help interpret your dreams and also teach you ways in which you can utilize them for upgrading your life and relationships as well.
