The Linden Method has been around for quite some time now and is considered as an effective means to deal with panic attacks and other psychological problems. One should definitely try this method, which has cured several patients worldwide.
The Linden Method was formulated by Charles Linden in order to deal with several problems associated with anxiety. This method is used to cure psychological problems with the help of various cognitive behavior therapies, and the success rate of this method is around 96.7%. Charles Linden himself suffered from anxiety symptoms and panic attacks for a long time. It is said that at times, he would encounter 5-6 panic attacks in a day. A thorough study of different treatment methods and therapies was carried out by him to formulate this method.
The essence or core of the Linden Method is to ‘reprogram’ the amygdala, a part of the brain, to prevent anxiety attacks. In this form of treatment, there is no need to take any kind of medication.
How Does the Amygdala Work?
The amygdala, which is an almond-shaped organ, gets activated in response to any kind of external threat, and physical reactions appropriate to the threat also get activated. The problem of panic attacks occurs when the amygdala stays in the ‘on’ position, in a sense that panic signals are sent to the mind without any concrete reason. Even if the patient knows that the cause of worry is insignificant, he cannot control his response towards the so-called threats. The amygdala if ‘taught’ repeatedly that a particular situation (state of mind in reality) is dangerous, the belief in fear is reinforced. This process is known as operant conditioning.
Fear Cycle
A person gets stuck in the fear cycle when control over the amygdala is lost. People suffering from anxiety deem the anxiety sensations and thoughts as dangerous. Once these symptoms overpower the mind, one gets scared and a perpetual cycle of anxiety symptoms begins. It is necessary to break this cycle to overcome fear.
The Linden Method comes into picture while dealing with such problems. The problems related to anxiety are not caused by chemical imbalances. Thus, medications would prove to be of no use in the treatment. In the Linden treatment Method, the amygdala of a person is made to believe that everything is normal and he/she is safe. Health problems that are treated with the help of this method are generalized anxiety disorder (GAD), panic disorder, obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD), phobias, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), etc.
Is It a Scam?
The Linden Method has been in practice for more than 10 years now. More than 120,000 patients have recovered from the problems, like, panic attacks, agoraphobia, anxiety, obsessive compulsive disorder, etc. It is not possible for Charles Linden to reach all his clients the world over. The self-help version of Linden Method is therefore, an attempt to treat as many people as possible. However, it is important to know that the method does not cure problems overnight. It requires learning and applying the techniques to bring about gradual changes. The results can be fast, depending on the effort being put by the patient. This method is thus, not a scam, but a safe way to deal with anxiety-related problems.
Though the Linden Method has been successful, Charles Linden himself does not guarantee success if the treatment is not used correctly. As stated earlier, the success rate of this method is 96.7%, however, it is dependent on various factors. Thus, it would be appropriate to say that following the method sincerely and effectively would help in treating the anxiety-related problems at a faster rate.
